Questions
Questions about Ocotillo
How far ahead should I book a Saturday?
About three weeks. Saturdays fill first, and a wedding or prom morning goes sooner, so six to eight weeks ahead is kinder to everyone. Tuesday to Friday, a week is usually enough.
Do I need to bring a photo?
It helps more than anything else. Bring two or three photos of the style you like and, if you can, one of a style you don't. Jeannette will tell you what your hair will and won't do.
Should I wash my hair first?
For an updo or a braid, come with dry hair washed the day before or that morning. A blow-dry starts with a shampoo at the basin in the suite, so come as you are.
How long will my style last?
It depends on your hair, the weather and how you sleep. An updo is built to hold for an evening, and a braid for a few days to a week. A dry March day and a monsoon afternoon treat hair differently, so Jeannette tells you what to expect for yours.
Can my teen book a style?
Yes. A parent or guardian books for anyone under 18 and waits nearby. Bring the dress, or a photo of it, so the style matches.
Can a friend come with me?
One guest may sit and wait with you. The suite is a single room, so a second guest is better as a text message.
How much will my style cost?
Prices depend on the style, the length and density of your hair and the time it takes. They show on the booking page when you choose a style, and Jeannette confirms them before she starts.
Do you style at the venue?
No. Jeannette styles in the suite only, so everything she needs is within reach and nothing is rushed in a hotel room.
Where do I park, and how do I get in?
Park in the lot behind the building. We text you the suite number and the door code the day before your visit.
Do you color hair?
No. Ocotillo is for styling: updos, braids and blow-dries. If your style needs color first, Jeannette can suggest a colorist to see ahead of your date.
What if I have thick, fine or textured hair?
Tell us when you book. Jeannette styles most hair types, plans the time around yours and says so up front if a style you've chosen won't hold on your hair.
What if I need to move my appointment?
Please give 48 hours' notice for a Saturday or an updo, and 24 hours for anything else. The policies page says what happens if you run late.
Pick a style and hold the time
